“Daily Routines.”



The objectives: To practice reading, speaking and writing about daily  

                              routines;

                              To revise the vocabulary points to the unit;

                              To practice listening for specific information;

                              To enable students to ask about daily routines;

                              To enable you and your students monitor

                              their  progress;

 Materials:         Cards with the names of daily routines. Text,

                              with separated every sentence.
Level:                elementary students

1.    Warm up Activity

“Guessing pantomimes.”

     The cards with the names of daily routines lie facing down on the table. One pupil of the group comes, takes the card, pantomimes and the rest of the group guess the daily routine.

      The Cards: to get up, to wash face & hands, to dress, to have 

                         breakfast, to make a bed, to do morning exercises,

                          to do homework, to go to bed.



 2.    Roll on Sentence

     One pupil starts the sentence, every next pupil repeats the previous one and adds his/ her word or word combination.

-for the pupils who have already made their part of the sentence scrambled words

 a)     Listen to these astronauts. They tell you what do in space.

                    We get up at half past seven.

                    We have breakfast at eight o’clock.

                     At nine o’clock we check the instruments.

                      At quarter past ten we do exercises.

                      At half past twelve we have lunch.

                      At three o’clock we talk to Earth on radio.

                      We have a rest from 5 o’clock to seven.

                      We have dinner at half past seven.

                      At quarter past eight we write our reports.

                      At nine o’clock we go to bed.

           

b)     Play  the  cassette again. Stop after each example. Pupils listen and write down the time for each picture.

          Each group gets a sheet of paper and they write the plan of the “real” or “ideal” day.
